A brachioplasty is a surgical procedure used to take away extra fat and skin in the upper arms. The skin in this area commonly loosens with age. Liposuction and an arm lift, either separately or together, can improve the look of a patient’s upper arms.

Brachioplasty, also known as arm reduction surgery, can take care of this problem. The success of the procedure often depends on how much excess tissue there is, and how much the anchoring system has already begun to sag.
During this procedure, an incision is made in the inner arm and excess skin is removed. The incision is usually placed in an area where the remaining arm tissue can be easily and effectively tightened, and where the scar can be hidden easily. |

Recovering After Surgery. |

Most patients require heavy bandaging in the arm area to protect the incisions after the procedure. Patients must limit lifting and elevate the arms with pillows to alleviate discomfort. Most patients resume their usual activities within two to three weeks, but should not perform heavy lifting for up to 6 weeks after the procedure. |
