If you have any incidents of allergies to certain drugs, make sure you convey about them to your heath care provider. Do not consume anything or drink for 7 hours before the procedure. For patients who have diabetes, they need to inform about the medication they are taking to the doctor. The medicines have to be adjusted before and after the spinal injections.
If you have some illness like a flu or fever, you can tell the doctor to reschedule your appointment. But when you come for the appointment, it is effective if you have some pain present. This will help you know if the injection has stopped or blocked your pain.
During the procedure your heart rate and breathing is checked. You may be sedated if the doctor finds it apt depending on your condition. With the help of X-ray imagining, the perfect place for the injection to be done is tracked. After the injection, a small sterile bandage is applied on the injected area.
You can resume your normal activities and work the next day.. Follow up with the doctor to evaluate your condition on the third day after being treated with spinal injections
After the spinal injections, your condition is monitored. Since you tend to feel pale and weak, you could ask somebody else to do the driving back home.
