  Claw Toes

We exert a lot of pressure on our feet while walking and running. This leads to many foot problems also called foot disorder. People often suffer from a common foot disorder called claw toes. Claw toe refers to the abnormalities in the toe, which result in severe pain. It is a common foot deformity developed in many people. These toes do not have proper shape. They look odd and even hurt. Even simple activities become difficult for you. In this disorder there is contraction in the end as well as middle joints, which leads to severe pain. Your ability to move reduces. You feel pain while walking. Joints curl downwards as ligaments have tightened. The tissue becomes unnaturally tight.

Claw toes occur due to a muscle imbalance. Muscle imbalance may be due to arthritis or a neuromuscular disorder. Wearing very short shoes or high heels are one of the causes of claw toes. Without treatment claws toes get aggravated which lead to a permanent irregularity.

These claw toes dig down your shoe soles and create painful calluses. Claw toes also occurs due to nerve damage. Nerve damage is caused by ailments like diabetes. Trauma and inflammation may lead to claw toe deformity.

  Treatment

These irregularities are flexible in the initial stages. As time progresses they become hard. Wearing the right kind of shoe is the best treatment to the claw toe. See to that the shoe you are wearing has a high and broad toe area that can easily accommodate your claw toes. This will reduce friction between your shoe and toes. There are also some traditional treatments. Use forefoot products that are specially designed to give immediate relief from your claw toes. Products like gel shields and toe crests provide comfort and lubrication. Steriod injections can also reduce your pain to a great extent. The effect of these injections can last for several weeks. Take the advice of a doctor before using a product.

  Surgical Treatment

If these treatments do not work then surgery is the last option for you. Surgery will cure your claw toe problem permanently. It is the most effective and permanent solution to your problem. Many practitioners now prefer surgery more that treating the pains with the painkillers and other different methods. After surgery regular exercise is a must for full recovery. By doing exercises for 20 minutes everyday, you can return to your normal activities comfortably. Arthrodedis is a surgical procedure in which 2 bones, middle phalanges and proximal, are fused together. The cartilage is removed from base of middle phalanx. These bones are fixed using a removable pin. Fusion of bones eventually takes place. Once you have undergone with surgery, you need to be more careful about your daily working.
